After Care For Aesthetic Treatments
By following our essential guide to aftercare you’ll ensure that your treatment not only looks fabulous, but it lasts longer too.
For the first 4 days expect
- Minor redness, swelling, tenderness minor bruising (cold packs can be applied to reduce swelling).
- Dryness and itchiness in the treated area.
- Lips: Dry skin for up to 3 weeks
- Eyelash enhancements: lashes that stick together, particularly overnight.
These symptoms are a normal part of the healing process.
Essential Care for Week 1 for all treatments
- We recommend you clean your enhancement twice daily with damp cotton wool and avoid prolonged contact with water. Use a gentle cleanser when cleaning your face.
- Apply the complimentary healing jelly using a cotton bud. Your enhancement needs to stay ‘oil moist’ during the first week to realise optimal results. Apply very frequently to lips, 4 times a day for brows and 3 times a day for eyes. Prevent cross-contamination of the product by using a clean cotton each time you take jelly from the sachet.
- No make-up should be applied close to your enhancement for a minimum of 3 days.
- If your enhancement gets wet, gently pat the area dry using a clean tissue.
- Allow the colour to flake away gently by itself. Do no pick off the flaking skin as the colour may heal unevenly and you could risk infection. Light scabbing and flakiness is a natural part of the healing process.
- Do not receive skincare treatments for 5 days.
Essential Care for the first week for Brow Treatments
- When washing your hair apply Vaseline liberally to your enhancement to prevent it from becoming wet. Gently remove the Vaseline after each application with damp cotton wool.
Essential Care for the first week for Lip Treatments
- If you have ever suffered with mouth cold sores, prevent a breakout by using Acyclovir medication - in cream or oral form as directed by your pharmacist. If an outbreak does occur, it normally begins on day 3 of the healing process. If you do breakout replace the application of the healing jelly with Vaseline.
- When you brush your teeth apply Vaseline liberally to your lips to prevent it from becoming wet. Gently remove the Vaseline after each application with a damp cotton pad.
- For the first 3 days avoid eating spicy and salty foods and drink through a straw.
- No kissing for 5 days.
Essential Care for the first week for Eyeliner Treatments
- You may want to use antibiotic eye drops (1% Chloramphenicol) to prevent eye infections. This can be obtained over the counter at a chemist and your pharmacist will advise you how to use it.
- Do not wear contact lenses for 24 hours.
- Eye creams can be used sparingly taking care to ensure they are not applied directly over your enhancement.
- Use sunglasses to protect your eyes from wind and pollution.
Don’t for 2 weeks
- Expose your enhancement to direct sun, tanning treatments, Jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools and direct shower spray.
- Brows: no brow tinting, waxing or threading, electrolysis, laser or IPL hair removal close to your brow treatment.
- Lips: no bleaching, waxing or threading, electrolysis, laser or IPL hair removal close to your lip treatment. No lip fillers or lip plumping products.
- Eyes: no lash tinting, lash growth products, perming, curling or false eyelash application.
Don’t forget……
- Remember, your selected colour will be stronger and more sharply defined for 5 to 14 days after application but as the healing process occurs the colour will soften, lighten and the colour will blossom over the following 3 weeks.
- Healing time can be prolonged if your immune system is compromised and also by poor diet.
- With new procedures some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the control visit allowing us to fine tune your enhancement.
- Loss of some eyelashes during the healing process is a possibility. Lost eyelashes will normally grow back within a 4-month period.
- Do not use harsh exfoliating products and skin thinning agents directly to your enhancement as these accelerate the fading process.
- If you do not attend your tune-up appointment you will be charged for any further treatments. In all cases, cancellation notice is 48 hours.
- Long term if you are planning a skin peel, laser IPL or and MRI scan tell the operator about your enhancement.
- You may not be eligible to donate blood to the National Blood Service for 4 months after receiving your enhancement.
Colour Boost Procedure
We recommend a colour boost procedure which is offered at a discounted rate should you do so within 12 – 15 months of the initial treatment.
